How does the two-way format actually work?

1. Both friends fill in the 30 questions about themselves, privately, without comparing notes.
2. Then both fill in a second sheet guessing the other person's answers.
3. Compare both sheets and score each person separately: how many of your guesses about them were right, and how many of theirs about you were right.
4. You now have two scores. That's the whole point — a single shared score hides who actually knows who better.

How do you score two separate results?

Give one point per correct guess, out of 30, for each direction. Then read both scores against the same bands — but read the pair of results together, not each one alone.

Under 15	You know an outdated version of them.
15-20	Solid friend, not quite best-friend level yet.
21-25	Genuine best friend.
26-29	You've been paying real attention for years.
30	Either you saw the answer sheet, or you're basically the same person.

What does it mean if the two scores are very different?

This is the part a one-sided quiz can't show you. If Friend A scores 27 on guessing Friend B, but Friend B only scores 16 on guessing Friend A, that's not proof Friend B cares less — it usually means Friend A is the one who remembers details, asks follow-up questions, or initiates catch-ups, while Friend B is more reactive. Worth naming out loud, kindly, rather than turning into a scoreboard.

A gap of 10+ points sustained across several plays of the quiz, though, is worth an honest conversation rather than a laugh line. It usually means one side of the friendship has drifted into being more listened-to than listening.

Is this the right format for every friendship?

Not always. If one friend is clearly the more private of the two, the reveal-tier questions can feel like an ambush rather than a game — swap those ten for a second batch from the facts and habits tiers instead. The scoring bands work the same either way; you're just choosing how deep to go.
